Who, ME?

I thought he said he was gonna update his site often...

*sigh* All is right with the world. Why do I say that? Because I am the -proud- owner of... Neverwinter Nights. (If you're sick of hearing about it, just go on and leave. I know -I- got sick of hearing how good it was. Mainly because I wanted it and didn't have it.)

Neverwinter Nights (NWN) is an awesome game. I was at first sceptical about how it would work in real-time, like the Diablo games, as I thoroughly enjoyed Pool of Radiance: Ruins of Myth Drannor's turn based system. I apparently was worrying about nothing. The combat system works well, the only problem is it occasionally will cost you a few spells, as you'll begin casting, and someone/something will kill your target before you finish casting, but you'll waste the spell anyways. But the game's easy enough not to really be bothered by that.

It is based on the inaccurately named 3rd Edition Dungeons and Dragons ruleset. (It actually is 4th edition. To remove confusion, lets call it Wizards of the Coast (WotC) rules, okay?) The rules are only slightly modified, with an added skill, several skills, class features, and other things left out. But I do believe that this game has the most character classes to choose from, as well as the most races to choose from. For those unfamiliar with the ruleset, WotC rules allow for more customization than the previous rulesets. The rules are also easier, says I.

And also it comes with a module toolset, something like a level editor. The toolset is fairly straight foreward, though if you want to use it well I suggest doing the tutorial first. The game is easily upgradable, and additional monsters, weapons, and such have already been created by users. Hence it -must- be easy </sarcasm>. But seriously, a few addons are already available in the forums on the site. Nice looking ones too.
